Hmmm.....

I don't have a specific "topic" to blog about. All is well in Hallock World. I am still LOVING my job. I'm so thankful and blessed! The owners(a mom and son team) are awesome! Pam reminds me SO much of my mother that I sometimes have to stop myself from calling her Mom. She's 5'2ish, slender, with brown hair and glasses...what is that you say? Sounds like my mom?? I know! Josh is like the big brother I never had(except he's a year younger than me!). We are always teasing each other, and laughing. I don't see much of the 2 buyers agents(they office on the other side of the building), but when I do get to see them we get along great. There is another office aid, that is a early 20ish college guy. It was a little awkward at first b/c he wasn't very talky, but the more time we spent together the more we chit-chat and it gets less awkward. I'm learning SO much, everyday is different and non-stop. I adore it.

One thing I DON'T adore is Savannah's attitude. I seriously think we went wrong somewhere. Maybe I wasn't made to mother girls..I don't know. All I know is she is out of control. She has picked up the new word "butthead" and had called Jonathan that twice today already when I went in to tuck them in. While in there I heard it again. I sent her to the kitchen fully intending to wash her mouth out with soap, I'm tired of it. Once she realizes what I was planning on doing she starts screaming at me that Mrs. Bott(her teacher) said that's poison, and I'm trying to kill her, I want her to die, I hate her...Fun Times... So I say fine, go to my room, your getting spanked. She is screaming that I hate her and hopping around on my bed like a rabid dog. I try to get her to calm down, to no avail. So I have to hold her down while I spank her, which I hate! That makes me feel like a child abuser! So of course she moves, and I get her on the top of her thigh. That sends her over the top! You hit me on my leg! You hate me! Since you hate me, I hate you! She stomped to her room, and buried herself under the covers. I made her pull her head out, gave her a kiss and told her I loved her.

Agh! Why do girls have to be so hard???

Ah, to be a mother of girls! I have been in your shoes my good friend and I can say it does get better. Continue to reassure S you love her, especially after you punish her for something. Let her know that the behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in your house. If she continues, she chooses to continue to be punished in some way (no DS, TV, etc). She will cool off, I promise. When she's cooled off - days later - talk to her about it calmly and ask her why she feels the need to act that way, tell her you don't like it, why you don't like it. Ask her if she would call Jesus a butthead (Whatever you do to the least of my brethren you do to me). Most of all - BREATHE!

I wish I could give some advice, but Im a mommy of a girl too and going through the same drama. Katherines biggest problem is talking back and that just sends me over the edge. Lately I've gone back to using time out in the corner. that seems to also give me time to calm down.

Don't you love girls. SO much drama, drama, drama!!! It's like we are always out to get them and they are perfect so what the hell is our problem right??? 1 more year until college, yes you do begin to count down the days, but I always try to prolong the good days because they are fewer and farther between now. Sorry to say it does get worse. I have no cloths, makeup, jewelry, or anything anymore that is my own. Then when I take my stuff back she acts as if I am stealing from her. Then the boys and stupid decision making and they wonder why you don't trust them. Arguement after arguement. Sigh!!!!! I learned the hard way there is only one way to deal with a girl, take away the check book!!!! Don't buy them a single thing, it hits the hardest. More than any other punishment. Boys are all video games or sports, but girls like shiny new things. As a mother who still has a child who listens and stays at home when she's grounded, its because she knows I'll cut her off financially, and she likes a car full of gas.

Haha! I have three girls and none of them are alike. I have realized that I talk too much and they think this means that a negotiation is in session. I am still working on it, but it does get better.

Welcome to mothering a daughter! You did nothing wrong..just one day this little internal switch that is in every girl gets flipped and you think "who the heck is this child and where the heck is MY daughter?" Abriel is such a drama queen and she blows the most ridiculous things out of proportion and then in the middle of her meltdown, instead of getting more angry, I realize the craziness of it all and I start laughing at her for it. I think this is better than any yelling, because you can't argue with laughter. She usually stomps off and then I follow her up the stairs, still laughing and just before she slams the door I say through my laughter, "You're still grounded even though this fit was funnier than the last one." How my mother raised 3 girls is beyond me!

Every time Abriel has her dramatic moments I realize, yet again, how much God knows better than me and he gave me 2 boys and 1 girl instead of what I wanted. I think if I had to deal with 2 drama queens, I'd end up on the evening news.."Mother of 2 daughters loses it and kills them, story at 5."
