Prince Harri is getting close to a couple of major milestones, and I want some input from ALL you mommies!
1. Cereal and food. It used to be start it at 4 months, don't put it in a bottle. Now I'm reading wait closer to 6 months, and maybe a tsp. in the bottle won't hurt. So...here's my questions:
When did you start cereal? foods?
Did you spoon it, put it in a bottle, or both?
Is there a benefit to waiting until 6 mo. VS starting at 4 mo.?
Anything else you feel the need at add on this subject...
2. Stomach sleeping. Everyone knows 'back to sleep', but most people(including babies) sleep better on their stomach. The Dr. said it's OK once they roll onto their stomach themselves, but always back before then. H is so close to rolling..... I want to put him on his belly to sleep. He's getting too big to sleep in his car seat and isn't sleeping well b/c he's uncomfortable. So..here's my questions:
Did you always but your kids on their backs? Or stomachs?
Why or Why not?
THANKS!

I think I started cereal just before 5 months, on a spoon, never in a bottle - though I know a lot of people that did that at night so tummies would stay fuller longer.
Julie always slept well on her back, so it wasn't an issue. Rae loved her tummy, so I let her sleep that way during the day when I was up and around. At night I put her on her side - as that was the better way all those years ago!
Started with cereal on a spoon, not ever in the bottle. Lex was the only one who prefered to have his cereal as thick as possible. The girls started out with very thin cereal. We started at 4 months but he didn't really start eating until closer to 5.5 months. We read up on SIDS and since boys are more prone to it, we decided not to put him on his belly until he got there on his own. He will have to get used to sleeping in his bed one day or another. I used to have to jump in the shower and let the girls cry themselves to sleep until they/I got used to the idea.
This is Delta, I read Your and Mistys blogs like clock work, cus they are interesting to me. Anyways,
I actually let my girls sleep on their tummies from almost the day they were born. They would not sleep any other way. I always put a heavy sleeper on them at night so that would be the only thing in the bed with them. I dont see the problem with you putting him on his tummy, just put him in with nothing in there cept comfy jammies, I mean you dont smoke,(at least as far as I know you dont lol).I wouldnt sleep very well in a car seat either...hehe
I started my girls on cereal both when they were 4 months old (which i did in bottle and spoon) and then started them out on baby foods and mashed tatos, mashed peas etc....stuff like that at 6 months.
Anyways love the blogs..ttyl
Tanner started cereal at about 5 months, Grace and Morgan started right at 4 months because they were both eating like crazy - always on a spoon, not in a bottle.
All three of my kids are tummy sleepers. I broke all the rules for sleeping. But, I made sure the sheet fit tight, there were no extra stuffed animals or blankets in the bed, just one blanket to cover them with.
i'm pretty sure we've had this discussion so u know what i did. plus a was with both of us when these issues arose so u helped me decide.
one thing i'll say is that obesity problems later in life have a far greater chance of happening the earlier u move to cereal and beyond.
that's all i got.
This is Michelle. Your Children are absolutely beautiful and getting so big!
Thomas started cereal at about 4 months, Emily was at 4 1/2 months. I would give them a bottle of cereal at night...not too thick just enough that it was still able to flow through the nipple without cutting it. I would also give them cereal with the spoon.
Thomas was a back sleeper till he learned to roll over..and I would have to stand next to the crib and pat his back till he would go to sleep, and Emily was always a little picky with sleeping. She had to be rocked to sleep and then put in her crib on her back.
My children were all eating plain cereal at 4 mos old and only with a spoon. I have never been fond of the bottle thing. Then about 2 weeks later I introduced bananas in the cereal and then 2 weeks after that applesauce. Slowly but surely adding more and more different kinds of foods. They say they want parents to wait until 6 months because they are concerned that the baby is not getting a balanced diet if they get full on cereal. I figure since I used formula to mix it, there isn't much of a difference.
My kids always slept on their backs until they were able to roll over any direction easily. If I came into the room and they had rolled onto their bellies but still hadn't mastered rolling from belly to back - I put them back on their back. If they had any distress in the position they were in, they should be able to move on their own to fix the problem.
I always put Kat to sleep on her back and she never had any problems sleeping! I couldnt ever get the cereal in a bottle to work right for her. So I spoon fed her cereal. I dont remember at what age but I dont recall it being as early as 4months like everyone else. I started her out with cereal mixed w/water, then with formula, then with juice, yogart and any foods she was eating. She loved it all ways.
