These are what every woman wants. Oh, and we don't want them to lead to sex or to get them only during sex. Jason and I were talking about this the other night. Let me re-phrase, I talked Jason listened. One thing that we've been very good about is keeping passion in our relationship. I have always said I don't want to be one of those couples that just exist together. I don't want to be old, gray and wrinkly living with with an old man who burps, farts, and has hair growing out of his ears. I want to still be in love. I want to be that gross old couple on the beach that can't keep their hands off each other and ruin all the young people's vacations. I expect, demand and have received that passionate love.
Until recently....
We've been in a funk. No real reason. Well, I guess life is a reason. Work, schedules, stress, kids, oh yea, did I mention life? We haven't made time to just be together. Just us. We used to, but we got out of the habit. Such is life. On Friday we went to dinner, it was nice. Not at first though. At first it was awkward, uncomfortable, and down right awful. Had we made a mistake? Was the 10 years of passion just luck? A fluke? I hoped not. He hoped not. Yet we were still silent........
Finally the dam broke. Words, emotions, hurt, happiness, thoughts, desires, memories spilled out. We talked, and talked, and talked, like we hadn't talked in years(okay, months!) We talked about some stuff that I had said that hurt him, and of course I had no clue. We talked things from my childhood that he never knew. We talked about my feelings of inadequacies, and how I deal with them, or don't deal with them.... Along with all these words came the passion. The passion that had been on hold for a few months, the passion that I prayed was still there but couldn't find. Jason and I are not normally the type of people that hang on to stuff. We say what we have to say, we get it out in the open, and we move on. We don't get mad at each other often, and when we do, we don't stay mad..because we talk about it. We hadn't been talking, that was our problem. We had put everything else before us, so there was a failure to communicate. One thing that cannot exist in a successful marriage is a failure to communicate. You have to make a plan, a schedule, a time to communicate. And we weren't, we were letting it slip to the side. We've learned our lesson.

Thanks for the reminder! Ten years is a long time, but you guys have had a crazy couple of years. Life will settle down soon, and you will have a lot more couple time.
Good for you guys that you made the time for your marraige. You are so very right about how a successful marraige cannot exist without communication. And every so often every couple goes through their rough spots...but it's when you find your way to each other again that makes it all SO worth it.
we all go through dry spells sweetheart. And yes the key is communication. It is hard to get back to that open communication when you have shut the door. But it sounds like the two of you have gone through a growing area and will be the better for it in the long run. May you always be groping for each other.
Here's to grossing out the young ones on the beach in the future!! Life does take it toll sometimes but it's a good thing it was only a couple of months (instead of years) and you regrouped quickly to fix it.
Aw, always helpful!
